Dayton BMHA 2022 Forum:

Bicycle Mobile Hams of America (The 31st Annual BMHA forum at Hamvention)

The Forum schedule for the Hamvention now has us listed for our forum at 9:15 am, Room 1 on Sunday May 22. Hopefully the forum room will be open a little early so we can gather in the room. We only have the one hour so we will be as efficient as we can to allow time for our main speaker and presenter. I look forward to the forum and hope to see many of you there again.
Moderator: Mike Nickolaus, NF0N

Bicycle Mobile Hams of America got its start in1989 when a QST article by Hartley Alley, NA0A asked hams who operate their radios while bicycle-mobile to get together and form a group. BMHA hosts a website along with the BMHA Yahoo Groups forum.

Forum Location: Sunday, May 22, 2022 in Room 1 from 9:15 - 10:15 AM

Forum Topics:

  • I will be showing some of the original pictures and newspaper clippings from Hartley, NA0A, 50th High School Reunion trip, which was the start of BMHA.
  • Avid Amateur Radio operator and bicyclist Steve D'Amico, KC8QVO, is joining us for a talk and demonstration on cycling with various degrees of portable ham radio operations: VHF/UHF repeaters and HF including QRP, antennas, and other various radio gear.
Steve, has been a licensed Amateur since 2001, Extra Class since 2007. He enjoys many aspects of the hobby including kit building, homebrewing, radio repair, as well as test and measurement. He has been in to distance cycling and touring since 2014. His normal day trips are 40-70 miles, self supported with gear. He has a Youtube channel that is building called "QRP to QRO".
