Dayton HamVention 2005
Notes from Mike NF0N, Photos from John VE3JC
Just a quick update on the results of the Hamvention Forum.
We actually had more forum time than we have ever had, 1 1/2 hours on Sunday morning. Had about 100 attend and programs were very
good. The two that spoke about the Ohio ride, GOBA, really showed what Ham's do for this large ride. They almost run the whole
show. Anthony, AB0XP had some great pictures of his trike and recumbent. Stephan demonstrated his trike and all he has done with
it. I am thinking about one myself. $$$.
I opened the forum and talked about BMHA past and future a little and mentioned we currently do not have a newsletter editor and
that we want to migrate to a web based newsletter. I actually had 2 who indicated interest in editing the newsletter and getting it
ready for the web. One of the two seems a little more knowledgeable about this and if we could somehow get the two to work together
maybe we can use them. I'll pass along their names later.
I didn't beg for new members but did get a couple. Had a table with past newsletters and let them go for free as I have so many we
will never sell them.
That's about it for this year. Looked like attendance at the Hamvention was down and quite a few flea market and commercial spaces
were empty. But still managed to spend more than I planned. Had a good time.
Out to ride today, tomorrow and Monday I hope. Getting ready for a 600 mile trip in late June and doing RAGBRAI again if I can keep
the old body going.
Have a nice Memorial Day and good riding.
